Walnut/Butternut Dining Table, Benches, Chairs

The table top is made from West Virginia Butternut (sometimes called White Walnut) I pulled out of barn at a local sawmill. I deliberately left the wood "flawed" with knots and wormholes, offering in my opinion, "flawless beauty." The base of the table is Black Walnut from West Virginia.

The two benches are made from "Crotch wood" taken from a tree on our property. This type of lumber is difficult to work with because it twists, splits or "check" during the drying period. I have added figured Maple "butterflies" to the places where the wood has small "checks" or cracks.

The chairs are made of Black Walnut with a "free edged" piece of Black Walnut as the back.
